Defense of an Abuse Prevention Order/Harassment Prevention Order

If you have been served with a notice to appear because an individual has applied for an “abuse prevention order” or a “harassment prevention order” do not take it lightly. Although the issuance of such an order is civil, violation of the order is criminal. You must have counsel to defend your interests or risk the entry of the order. Know your rights. Know what defenses to raise. Do not leave the Court regretting your decision to “go it alone”. Just because you did not do anything wrong does not mean the Court will deny the order.
